If you are considering Jungian Analytic or Psychoanalytic psychotherapy, an initial exploratory consultation can be arranged with an experienced psychotherapist through the BAP Clinical Service who can then refer you to a suitable psychotherapist for treatment. This consultation, lasting approximately one and a half hours, would give you the opportunity to discuss your difficulties and concerns in a different way, and give you some idea about what to expect in psychotherapy. It could help you to think further about whether you wish to have regular sessions with a psychotherapist.

If it is agreed that psychotherapy might be helpful to you and you wish to proceed, a referral can be made to a psychotherapist in an area convenient to your home or work. If psychotherapy does not seem appropriate, other ways of getting help can be discussed. The current fee for the consultation, including any subsequent referral, is £60.

Languages other than English

Some people prefer to undertake psychotherapy in their native tongue, if that is available. Please ask the consultant. Currently, BAP psychotherapists can offer the following languages: Arabic, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, Farsi, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

Consultants can be seen in the BAP headquarters, across London and in other parts of the country as listed below.

If you decide to have a consultation, please contact the consultant most convenient to you by telephone or email and request an appointment. If you make contact by email, please give your telephone number - preferably a land line - and the times that you are available to make arrangements.

Fees for regular therapy sessions are negotiated between the therapist and patient. The BAP also runs a REDUCED FEE SCHEME which offers a limited number of vacancies for three to four times weekly therapy for individuals who are able to make a minimum commitment for two years.

There is also a Low Fee Service offering psychoanalysis for those on low incomes prepared to attend a minimum of 4 sessions weekly. For further information about Low Fee Psychoanalysis see BPA Psychoanalysis
